Family Group Sheet

Family Group Sheet

Although the Family History Family Group sheet does not contain much ‘color’ when it comes to an individual’s life, it is still an extremely important document, as it links this individual to the other members of their immediate family.

When filling in your group sheet, it is always best to start with the parents, recording their full name and Individual sheet number and then their parent’s names and the related individual sheet numbers. Then you can move on to the marriage date of the mother and father.

Once you have completed this you can move on to the children of the two people named as parents. Again, add their full name and the corresponding individual sheet number. For married daughters of the couple whether use their married name or not is entirely up to you, but a word of advice, if you choose to use married names then keep it consistent on all of your group sheets to save confusion in the future.

Please note: I have deliberately kept the information contained within this group sheet to the bare minimum. I do realise that some other family group sheets contain birth and death dates and locations but I believe this information is better left to be placed on the person’s Individuals Detail Sheet.
